Viewing Document Schema File in Schema Viewer tab
A document schema file consists of segments, loops, composites, and/or elements arranged as nodes in a tree view. You can view X12, HIPAA, HL7, EDIFACT, and SWIFT types of document schema files.
To view the document schema file, in Project Explorer, double-click the .ds.xml file that you want to view. The file opens as a tab (Schema Viewer) and displays the following information:
• The left pane provides a tree view of all the nodes. You can click on the arrow ► to expand and view the child nodes.
The nodes are categorized as:
• Segments
• Loops
• Composites
• Elements
• Blocks (only for SWIFT file type)
Each node can include the following types of child nodes (HIPAA, HL7, EDI X12, or EDIFACT):
For SWIFT file type, each node includes the following types of child nodes.
Key Points:
• If the library files such as Segment Library, Field Library, Code Value Library, or Code Set library are not linked based on the file type (HL7, HIPAA, X12, or EDIFACT), then the
Configuration tab is displayed by default. The
Schema tab is enabled only after you link the required files. For information to link these files, see
Linking Library Files With Document Schema File.
• After the linking the required files, if you open the same .ds.xml file again, the Schema tab is displayed.
• Every schema file has its own mapping of Segment Library, Field Library, Code Value Library, or Code set library files.
Note: These key points are not applicable for SWIFT file type.
