Encryption Before Transmission
All your backup files are encrypted before sending them to the service for storage. The encryption algorithm used is the industry standard Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with a 256-bit key. The encryption key is generated locally on the Ingres instance when you register an agent and never leaves that instance. The key is stored in /home/installation_owner/actian/IngresXX/backup/.config/encryptionkey.dat. If you lose the encryption key, you will lose the ability to restore from downloaded backups. The encryption is mandatory; we never store unencrypted backup data in the cloud.
