Testing Applications and Procedures
In the new installation, you should test the following areas:
• Applications
• Performance
• System administrator procedures
Testing should not be random. You should have a test plan that includes the expected results. For example, if a query does mathematical calculations against a data set, the result should be manually computed so that the actual results can be verified against the expected results. Comparing the results from the previous version of Actian X with the new version may give the same answer, but both could be wrong.
