The II_JOURNAL parameter defines the location of the journal files, which provide a dynamic record of changes made to Actian Ingres databases since the last checkpoint. This parameter cannot be changed, even during installation updates. Specific databases can designate alternate locations for journals as a parameter to the createdb command.
