# Motherduck

You can connect your MotherDuck cloud database to Actian AI Analyst in just a few steps. Once connected, Actian AI Analyst's agents can start analyzing your data using natural language.

### What You'll Need

* A valid **MotherDuck access token**
* The **name of your MotherDuck database** (after `md:`)

### 1. Get Your Access Token from MotherDuck

To connect Actian AI Analyst, you'll need an access token from your MotherDuck account.

#### Steps to generate a token:

1. Log into your [MotherDuck account](https://motherduck.com).
2. Go to **Settings → Integrations → Access Tokens**.
3. Click **Create Access Token**.
4. Copy the generated token — you'll need to paste it into Actian AI Analyst.

    Treat your token like a password. Keep it secure and don't share it.

### 2. Open the MotherDuck Connection Page

In Actian AI Analyst:\
**Click Connections → Plus button → Select MotherDuck**

### 3. Fill in Connection Details

* **Display Name**  
  Give your data source a friendly name (e.g. `Marketing Analytics`).
* **Database Name**  
  Enter the name of your MotherDuck database.\
  &#xNAN;_(Example: if your DB is `md:my_database`, enter `my_database`.)_
* **Access Token**  
  Paste the token you copied from MotherDuck.
* **Database Schemas**  
  Select specific schemas you want to connect.

### 4. Test and Save

* Click **Test Connection** to verify access.
* If successful, click **Save Connection**.

### ✅ You're Done!

Actian AI Analyst is now connected to your MotherDuck database. Agents can start answering business questions instantly using your data.
