Define Source
On the Source page, specify the file or table you intend to profile. Here, you have the option to choose from a list of connectors, establish a new connection, or utilize an existing one. After selecting the file or table, you will be able to review your data.
To define a source connection
1. Click Select Source to view and pick a source from your recent source selection list or click Browse Sources and select from the available source options.
All available connections for the selected source are listed in the Connection drop-down.
2. Choose from the Connection list or click Create Connection to create a new one. See Create Connections.
Note:  If you select an Actian Warehouse or Actian Database as the source, the Create Connection button is not displayed, as you do not need a connection to connect to an Actian warehouse or database. You can connect directly, but you must remember that they must be in a running state in order to connect while designing or executing a profile. If the selected warehouse or database is not running, click the Click here to start this Warehouse/Database link. This link is displayed only after you select the warehouse or database. After you click this link, it will take some time for the warehouse to start running. The status will be displayed as Starting, Initializing, and then Running.
3. Depending on the source selection, you may be required to specify some connection properties. See Source and Target Connections.
4. Select the desired table or file.
5. Click the Preview the first 20 records link.
The data for the selected source table is displayed in the source data preview pane. From here you can review your data set. You can perform the following actions on the Source Data Preview pane:
