Managing Message Components
You can add, edit, and delete message components for a process. When you add steps on the canvas, the message components will be available for selection in the related step tab.

Editing Message Components
You can edit a message component instance in two ways:
• Edit the message component instance from the Step Properties tab.
• Edit the message component instance on the Configuration tab > Message Component section.
Editing Message Component Instance on Step Properties tab
To edit a message component instance on the Step Properties tab:
1. On the canvas, double-click the step for which you want to edit the message component instance. The Step Properties tab is displayed.
2. From the
Select <component> drop-down list, select the component instance that you want to edit and click
.
The Edit <component> Component window is displayed.
The selected component instance is updated. The same updated component instance appears in the Configuration tab > Message Components section.

To edit a message component instance on the Configuration tab:
1. Go to the Configuration tab > Message Component section.
2. Click the message component that you want to edit and click
.
The Edit Message Component window is displayed.
The selected component instance is updated. The same updated component instance appears in the Step Properties tab > Select <component> drop-down list when you double-click the respective component on the canvas.
Deleting Message Component Instance
To delete a message component instance
1. In the process file, go to the Configuration tab > Message Components section.
2. Click the message component that you want to delete and then click
.
A message asking for confirmation is displayed.
3. Click Yes.
The selected message component is deleted from the Message Components section.
Note: You cannot delete a message component instance if it is being used in a process. Also, deleting the step does not delete the message component instance. You must first delete the step and then delete the message component instance on the Configuration tab.
