Script Errors and Debugging Tips
This chapter includes the following sections:
Syntax and Logic errors can occur when mistakes are made in coding CXL scripts. The Map Designer will flag any syntax errors and indicate the approximate location for the error. On some occasions, the Map Designer does not have enough information to give a detailed error message. For debugging these kinds of syntax errors and for logic errors, there are several methods that can be used. These include using the logmessage built-in function, selective commenting, trace functionality, and using the Source Data Browser in the Map Designer to compare the actual output with the expected output. The formats of possible error messages from the Map Designer and tips on debugging potential errors are discussed below.
