Editing Macros Using Right Click
To update a macro by selecting it’s name:
1. Select a macro name (for example $(EMAIL)).
Ensure that only one macro is selected.
2. Right-click the macro name.
3. Click Update Macro.
The Update Macro dialog appears with the Macro Set Name and Macro Name field pre-populated. You cannot change these fields.
Note: The Update Macro option will not appear if multiple macros are selected.
4. In the Update Macro dialog, change one or more of the following macro details:
• Macro Value: Specify a value. This is stored as a text string in the macro.
• Encrypted: Select this to encrypt the macro. Macro values are displayed in plain text by default. When encryption is enabled, this macro value changes to a series of asterisks.
If you select the encrypted option then the Macro Value field will mask the entered value.
• Description: Type a brief description for the macro.
Description field is disabled (not supported) for macros that belong to LOCAL macro set.
5. Click Update to save the updated details.
IMPORTANT! Use this method to modify a macro value while working with a Data Connect artifact, for example, a map or a profile. Once updated, the Data Connect artifact will recognize the new value, and the connector will use the correct data when you connect. Note that updating the macro value using the Preferences dialog while an artifact is open will not automatically update the artifact.
