Setting Templates Preference for Process Designer
Templates preferences allow you to specify preferences for Process template.
The Add ‘_TEMPLATE’ file name suffix to Process Templates preference enables you to add a suffix to the process template filename.
The Location preference specifies the location for saving the process templates you create in process designer. This option also:
• Enables you to reuse your process templates.
• Sets the location that browse dialogs start in when loading or saving process templates.
For example, after you design a process, you can select multiple steps, right mouse click, and select
Save as template to store a fully configured segment of your process. The saved template mitigates the need to recreate those sections of a process, and the Location preference centralizes your process templates in one place (see
Saving Step(s) as Template and
Inserting Step(s) From Template).
To set the process template preferences:
1. Go to Options > Preferences.
The Preferences dialog is displayed.
2. In the left-pane, expand DataConnect and click Process Designer > Templates.
Note: You can also open the Preferences dialog to set the process designer preference from within the process file. To do this, right-click on the Step Builder Canvas and select Preferences.
3. Specify the following options:
• Add ‘_TEMPLATE’ file name suffix to Process Templates - Select this option to add ‘_TEMPLATE’ to the file name when you save the step as a process template. This option is selected by default.
• Location - You can choose one of the following location preferences:
– Choose template location each time -You can choose your location each time you save a step as a process template. The last chosen location will be remembered for saving or loading a Template. This is the default selection.
– Always use this location - Select this option to specify a preferred location. The template will be saved to and loaded from this folder. The default location is
<userdirectory>/Actian/DataConnect/Templates. If you want to specify another location, then click
Browse and specify a new location.
For information about general Browse button behavior and rules, see
Browsing Files and Directories.
4. Click Apply and Close.
Note: Process Templates are not available for v9 comparable processes.
