Setting Up Reject Data
A reject connection is a special kind of target used to reject records during a transformation. You can copy the reject connection information from either the source or target and then change the file or table name. If a record cannot be converted to the target file during a transformation, the record will be written to the reject file. The reject information includes the reject type and connection information.
• Reject Type: Indicates the software application or type of data to which rejected records should be transferred. The reject type can be any target type that the engine can write.
• Connection Information: The data needed to connect to the reject file. Depending on the reject type, the required information can range from a simple file name to a server, data source, table, user ID, and password.
The layout of the reject file matches the layout of the source file for the transformation. Mapping is one-for-one between the source and the reject file.
Only the connection and confirm schema sections are available to setup reject data.
You can save the reject targets for later use. Also, the reject data can be browsed.
In the current release of Actian DataConnect Studio, the Reject tab is no longer available. The reject is considered as a second target, so it is part of the Targets tab.
To setup reject data:
1. In the map file, go to Targets tab.
2. From the Select Target drop-down list, select Reject.
3. Do one of the following:
• From the
Choose Connector drop-down list, select a connector. Based on the selected connector, additional fields are displayed. For information about these fields, see
Setting Up Target Data.
• In Or Connection, either click Browse and specify a user-defined connection or click the drop-down arrow and select any of the following:
– Copy from Source - To copy from source
– Copy from Target - To copy from target
These two options are very useful as it saves time to specify connector, set connector properties, specify file, and define schema. You have to only modify the file name to be different from source or target file.
The related connector properties are displayed on the right side in tabular format.
For information about the connectors and their properties, see
Map Connectors.
4. Click Connect to establish the connection.
