Supported Health Care Standards
The following types of health care standards are supported:
HIPAA - The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) mandates that health care organizations must adopt transaction and information security standards to support the electronic exchange of administrative and financial health care data for administrative simplification. HIPAA requires the use of certain standard formats for documentation of medical claims that are related to services and other transactions associated with medical record keeping. For more information, resources, and training, see https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/index.html. The HIPAA connector and its schema speeds the creation, parsing, transformation, and integration of HIPAA transactions with existing systems. They provide built-in HIPAA transaction parsing logic and compliant target templates for mapping native data (without the need to modify existing applications).
HL7 - The HL7 domain is clinical and administrative data. It covers areas such as patient care information, admissions, discharges, clinical observations, billings, and master file updates. It defines the format and the content of messages that applications exchange by implementing common interface standards between diverse medical applications. HL7 standards are used for the electronic data exchange in the health care environment. For more information, resources, and training, see https://www.hl7.org/.
Before you begin using Health Care features of the integration platform, you must have working knowledge of HIPAA, and HL7 standards. In addition, you must know the basics of designing Processes, Maps, and Schema.
