Adding Rules from Rules Tab
This topic tells you how to add and configure data quality rules from the Rules Tab of the Data Profile Editor.
On the Rules tab, you can add rules in one or more of the following ways:

Opens the Import Rules wizard from where you can quickly add the saved rules from a ruleset file to a profile. See Import Ruleset.
Click and select Add New Rule from the context menu. The Add Rules dialog is displayed. See Add New Rule.
Opens the Inspect Data and Recommend Rules wizard. See Inspecting Data and Recommend Rules Wizard.
The Fields and Rules are displayed in a tree view (for a detailed description, see the Rules Tab). In this tree view interface, use the right arrow to collapse a branch (close it) and the down arrow to expand a branch (open it). The Fields and Rules are organized under the following groups:
You can use Ctrl+Click to select multiple rules. After choosing one or more rules, you can perform the following actions:
Icon
Action Description
Disables selected rules. See Disable and Enable Rules.
Enables selected rules. See Disable and Enable Rules.
Deletes selected rules. See Delete Rules.
One of the following icons may appear to the left of each rule name, each with a special meaning described below:
Icon
Description
Indicates a Summary rule.
Indicates a Conversion rule.
Indicates a Function rule.
Indicates a Test rule.
Note:  A Red Cross in a rule icon (for example ) indicates that the rule has a parameter that has not been defined. You can select the rule and view its parameters in the Rule Definition pane. See Edit Rule.
You can also perform the following actions:
