Setting SMTP Server Preferences
You can now configure an SMTP server for use with Data Profiler. This enhancement allows you to receive automated email alerts when Data Quality Index (DQI) falls below the threshold value. You can enable alerts, by setting up your SMTP server configuration and defining a DQI threshold. Alerts will be triggered whenever the DQI score falls below your specified threshold. You can set the threshold value from the Data Profile preferences page (see
Setting Data Profile Preferences).
Note: If you do not have an SMTP server, you can use Google Mail as an SMTP Server.
To set SMTP server preferences:
1. Go to Options > Preferences.
The Preferences dialog is displayed.
2. In the left-pane, expand DataConnect and click Execution.
3. Click on the SMTP Server Preference tab, and specify the required preferences.
• User Name - A valid email address which will be used as the FROM email for all alerting, and used as the user name to log in to the SMTP server.
• Password - The secret key or phrase used in conjunction with the username for authentication.
• Host - The domain name or IP address of the SMTP server through which emails are sent. For example, smtp.gmail.com.
• Port Number - The network port used for communication with the SMTP server (for example 25, 465, or 587).
• Enable TLS - A setting that specifies whether Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption is enabled for secure email transmission. Select True to use the TLS protocol or False to use the SSL protocol.
4. Click Apply and Close.
The SMTP server information is saved.
Note: The SMTP server details you enter in
Preferences are automatically populated in the
Execution section of the
Configuration tab, if notifications are enabled for the data profile.
For more information, see
Enable Notifications under
Configuring Execution Options.
