Creating and Modifying Database Locations
During installation, default storage locations and underlying areas are established for each type of database file. These are listed in the System Locations folder.
When you
create a database (see
Creating a Database), default locations are assumed unless you specify alternate locations on the
Locations page of the New Database dialog (see
Locations Page (New Database)). Before you can specify an alternate location for a new database, you must create the location with the
New Location dialog (see
Location Dialog).
You can create alternate disk locations for the following types of database files:

You can also create database, work, and auxiliary work locations by extending a database. For more information, see
Extending Databases.
