The Database Procedure Interface allows DBMS stored procedures to be invoked by a client application. The gateway has the responsibility of making the interface to these native DBMS stored procedures look like a standard Ingres database procedure interface. This interface is designed primarily for the transparent execution of these stored procedures. The creation and management of the stored procedures is the responsibility of the database administrator. The gateway has the capability of managing the native stored procedures using extensions in the OpenSQL language.
