Check Character Set Compatibility
Enterprise Access does not validate character sets between a DBMS (Oracle, MS SQL Server, ODBC Host) and the Ingres installation, nor perform character set translation or transcoding. To avoid data inconsistencies and possible corruption of existing data, the DBMS character set must be compatible with the Ingres character set used in the Enterprise Access installation.
Note:  Character set compatibility is only relevant to single-byte data types, and is not an issue if Unicode types NCHAR and NVARCHAR are used with UCS2 encoded data.
The following sections provide instructions for determining character set settings; however, you are responsible for determining if the character sets are compatible. Consult your DBMS documentation for proper procedures on migrating character set data if incompatibilities are found.
