Gateway Catalog Build Utility
Gateway catalogs are built and configured using the gateway catalog build utility. Before executing the utility, you must define a gateway alias. The gateway alias entry specifies the connection information necessary to access the target DBMS. The gateway catalog build utility connects to the target database as the Gateway Catalog Owner, which is currently the ingres DBMS user ID.
Oracle only: If you want to use a different Oracle release with Enterprise Access, you must run the command-line iigwuseora utility, or the GUI-based gwuseoraw utility (Windows only) before running the gateway catalog build utility. The iigwuseora and gwuseoraw utilities facilitate switching between different Oracle releases.
Each host DBMS has its own gateway catalog build utility, which is run from the command line. The following table provides the name of the catalog build program for each gateway:
Gateway
Catalog Build Utility
Microsoft SQL Server
iigwcatmss
Oracle RDBMS
iigwcatora
ODBC host(s)
iigwcatodb
Windows only: The GUI-based Gateway Catalog Utility (iigwcat) can be used instead of the command line catalog utilities to build the gateway catalogs.
