An operating system user ID and password must be set up for the gateway system administrator. This is the 'ingres' user ID. The ingres user owns the Enterprise Access installation and is responsible for administration tasks such as starting and stopping the gateway installation. The gateway system administrator (the 'ingres' user ID) must also be defined as a DBMS user. The ingres DBMS user owns the gateway standard and extended catalogs. Additional user IDs are optional and depend upon your environment.
