Check the MS SQL Server DBMS Translation Setting
You can configure the MS SQL Server DBMS to perform automatic translation of character data, thereby resolving most incompatibilities between character sets.
To check the translation option setting
1. From the Windows Control Panel, select Administrative Tools and then Data Sources (ODBC). The ODBC Data Source Administrator appears.
2. Select the System DSN tab and then double-click the name of the MS SQL Server DBMS. The first configuration dialog for the server appears.
3. Navigate through the first three configuration dialogs using the Next button. The fourth configuration dialog appears.
4. Verify that the Perform translation for character sets checkbox is checked. If it is checked, click Cancel. If it is not, select the checkbox and click Finish.
Note:  See your MS SQL Server documentation for information on any additional settings required for character set translation.
