How to Install Ingres for OpenVMS Clusters
When installing Ingres in an OpenVMS Cluster, Ingres can be configured to run on multiple nodes within the Cluster.
If upgrading an existing Ingres Cluster installation, the installation process will upgrade the Cluster installation, maintaining the current Ingres Cluster configuration settings.
If upgrading a standalone Ingres installation running in an OpenVMS Cluster, Ingres can be configured in cluster mode as a post-installation process, performed in two stages:
1. Run the IIMKCLUSTER script on the primary cluster node, normally the most capable machine in the VMS cluster.
2. Run the IISUNODE script to add each additional node as required.
Notes:
When adding an additional node to an Ingres Cluster installation, you must supply the name of a local node-specific batch execution Queue for the additional node. You may need to create a VMS Batch execution Queue prior to running IISUNODE if a suitable Queue does not exist. Generic batch execution queues are not suitable as the queue is used to submit the Ingres startup procedure on the local node.
This script also has the option to remove a node from the Ingres Cluster installation.
You can reverse the combined effects of both IIMKCLUSTER and IISUNODE by running the IIUNCLUSTER script, which restores the configuration of the node upon which it is run to a stand-alone Ingres installation.
