Tuning SSHD on Host with More than Two Installations
When two or more Ingres installations are on the same server, Nagios web console operations such as “Schedule a check of all services on this host” may cause more SSH connections to the Ingres host than the host can handle. This can result in many services reporting an SSH problem, which is reported as a state of “Unknown”.
You can edit the SSHD (SSH daemon) configuration on the monitored Ingres host and increase the allowed number of inbound SSH connections. For example, on a Linux host these are stored in /etc/ssh/sshd_config file. Set MaxSessions and MaxStartups to a number larger than the number of service checks for that host.
The checks will eventually return to normal as the system smooths out the number of concurrent checks. The only known place this occurs is when using “Schedule a check of all services on this host” on the web console.
