How to Install an Ingres Patch in a Cluster Environment
To install an Ingres patch in a Windows Failover Clustering environment, follow these basic steps:
1. Take the Ingres Service offline, as described in Start and Stop Ingres in a Cluster Environment.
2. Shut down one cluster node to make sure the shared disk is owned by another cluster node.
3. Stop all Ingres processes that are still running, as follows: Issue iimgmtsvr stop, exit Visual Manager, or kill both processes in Task Manager.
4. Start the patch installation on this node according to instructions in the patch Readme.
5. Shut down this cluster node, and start the second node.
6. On the second node, stop all Ingres processes that are still running. Install the patch on the second node.
7. Restart the second node, and start the first node. When both nodes are up, bring the Ingres Service online in Failover Cluster Manager.
Ingres is available and can accept client connections.
