Path Names (Windows)
On Windows, Ingres does not support the use of the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) for path names, either during or after installation. You cannot install Ingres from a UNC path. After installation, if you issue the command SET PATH=\\host\dir;%PATH% and attempt to issue an Ingres command such as cbf, iigetres, or netu, the command will fail with an Application Error message. You must specify path names using the local file system convention.
Due to operating system limitations on Windows, installations that use the UTF8 character set must use only an ASCII path name for II_SYSTEM. We also recommend this for installations using a national character set that will make use of collations or the X100 structure type.
