Accessing and Integrating Data with OpenROAD
Modern applications require that data from multiple sources on different platforms be accessible in a single application. OpenROAD uses Enterprise Access to provide a common, portable, open interface across a variety of operating environments. This enables OpenROAD to offer solutions for full, transparent read/write access to all existing data without changing its location or structure.
Enterprise Access is a middleware solution that provides organizations with the flexibility and integration to access information resources from a wide array of platforms and data sources. With Enterprise Access, developers can write one program that operates against all required databases.
OpenROAD supports all popular UNIX and Microsoft Windows-based database management systems such as Oracle, DB2 UDB, and Microsoft SQL Server through Enterprise Access. On IBM z/OS mainframes, EDBC (a separate product) provides the same level of access to native VSAM, DB2, CICS/VSAM, IMS, Advantage CA-IDMS/DB Database, and Advantage CA-Datacom/DB Database to enable you to access data from anywhere.
