Alternatives in Establishing a New OpenROAD Environment
We recommend that you create a new OpenROAD 11.2 environment on a separate machine, with Ingres 11.2 or later installed. You may, however, be able to install certain components on the same machine. Follow these basic guidelines.
OpenROAD Runtime and Development may be installed together, or OpenROAD Runtime can be installed separately when deploying an application.
OpenROAD 11.2 cannot detect and upgrade an existing OpenROAD 2006 (5.0) environment as long.
OpenROAD 11.2 will not upgrade an existing OpenROAD 4.1 environment.
OpenROAD 11.2 can be installed into an existing Ingres 11.2 instance, or it can be installed as a standalone instance that includes the Ingres Net 11.2 Client.
OpenROAD 11.2 Runtime and Development can run side by side with OpenROAD 4.1, OpenROAD 2006 (5.0), OpenROAD 5.1, or OpenROAD 6.0 in either a pre-installed version of Ingres or with the Ingres 10 Client packaged with the standalone version of OpenROAD 11.2.
Only one version of the OpenROAD Server may be installed per machine. If the OpenROAD 11.2 Server is installed, it will replace the previous version of the OpenROAD Server.
Loadnrun is a functional replacement for the eClient. However, it is possible to use the 6.2 version of the OpenROAD eClient runtime.
