Error: 0x800706BA "The RPC server is unavailable"
Valid on All Platforms
Problem:
The OpenROAD Server is not running on the target machine.
Solution:
Start the OpenROAD Server service on the target machine.
Problem:
Sometimes the problem stems from a typographical error in the host name or IP address of the target machine.
Solution:
Correct the spelling of the host name in the Connect or Initiate statement. Ensure you can ping the server from the client machine.
Valid Only on UNIX
Problem:
The COMPUTERNAME environment variable is not set or was not set prior to starting the rpcss process. (Not setting the COMPUTERNAME variable does not always cause a problem.)
Solution:
Set the COMPUTERNAME environment variable and any other OpenROAD Server-related environment variables before starting the rpcss process.
Valid for Client/Server Connections Only
Problem:
The MWRPC_ENDPOINT system environment variable is set improperly.
Solution:
Windows-to-UNIX
Ensure that the system environment variable MWRPC_ENDPOINT on the UNIX server is set to port 135.
UNIX-to-UNIX
Ensure that the system environment variable MWRPC_ENDPOINT is set to the same port number on both the server and the client machines.
