Register the OpenROAD Server
After installing 64-bit OpenROAD 12.0, you should register the 64-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Server with Windows user credentials. If you do not register the 64-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Server, you will be unable to start and run a 64-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Server. If the 64-bit OpenROAD 11.1 Server or the 64-bit OpenROAD 6.2 Server was configured previously, the 64-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Client will be able to access the 64-bit OpenROAD 11.1 or 64-bit OpenROAD 6.2 Server.
The 32-bit OpenROAD 6.2 Server (or 32-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Server) and 64-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Server may be installed on the same 64-bit Windows machine. They are separate instances, and 32-bit OpenROAD 6.2 Server (or 32-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Server) applications are distinct from the 64-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Server applications.
If the 32-bit OpenROAD 6.2 Server (or 32-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Server) and 64-bit OpenROAD 12.0 are installed on the same machine, the 32-bit OpenROAD 6.2 Client (or 32-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Client) must use HTTP to access the 64-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Server, and the 64-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Client must use HTTP to access the 32-bit OpenROAD 6.2 Server (or 32-bit OpenROAD 12.0 Server).
You register the OpenROAD Server using a utility called asreg.img (Application Server Installer-for more information see the Migration Guide). This utility does the following:
• Installs the OpenROAD Server Windows service (orsposvc.exe). This service runs under the Local System account.
• Registers and configures the OpenROAD SPO Server Pooler (orspo.exe). You are prompted to enter the user name and password that the OpenROAD SPO Server Pooler will run under.
• Registers the OpenROAD ASO Application Server (oraso.exe) to Windows and configures it.
• Registers the OpenROAD Server Proxy Stub (orps.dll) to Windows.
• Registers the OpenROAD Remove Server (orrso.dll) to Windows.
After these steps are completed, the installation can start an OpenROAD Server. The 64-bit version of asreg will configure the 64-bit OpenROAD Server.
64-bit OpenROAD Service
The 64-bit OpenROAD Service has the following characteristics:
• Service Name: orsposvcx64
• Display Name: OpenROAD 64-bit Service
• Description: Manages the lifetime of the OpenROAD 64-bit Server
To configure the 64-bit OpenROAD Server
Launch a 64-bit OpenROAD Administrative Command Window and enter the following command:
w4gldev.exe runimage asreg.img -Tyes -LC:\temp\asreg.log
Proceed to the section "To register the OpenROAD Server."
Note: If the account that the OpenROAD Server runs under has its password changed, you must re-register the OpenROAD Server. Simply run the Configure the OpenROAD Server utility again and specify the user name and new password.
The installer wizard does not register the OpenROAD Server during the installation. A shortcut named "Install or Uninstall the OpenROAD Server" is created that you can use to register the OpenROAD Server.
To register the OpenROAD Server
1. The shortcut to register the 64-bit OpenROAD Server is Start, All Programs, Actian OpenROAD 12.0 (64-bit), Server, Install or Uninstall OpenROAD Server.
2. Enter the user name and password for the Windows account under which the OpenROAD Server will run. This Windows user must have local Administrator privileges to register the OpenROAD Server.
The credentials are applied, items are registered, and the OpenROAD Server service is started.
