Alternatives in Establishing a New OpenROAD Environment
We recommend that you create a new OpenROAD environment on a separate machine, either with Ingres or the Stand Alone (SA) Net. You may, however, be able to install certain components on the same machine. Follow these basic guidelines.
OpenROAD Runtime and Development may be installed together, or OpenROAD Runtime can be installed separately when deploying an application.
OpenROAD will not migrate existing previous versions of OpenROAD.
OpenROAD can be installed into an existing Ingres instance/installation of the same version number, or it can be installed as a standalone instance that includes the SA Ingres Net Client.
OpenROAD Runtime and Development can run side by side with previous versions of OpenROAD in either a pre-installed version of Ingres or with the Ingres Client packaged with the standalone version of OpenROAD in different installations. Only one installation per version is supported.
There are no restrictions on the number of gRPC based OpenROAD Server configured and running on a machine.
[Windows Only] Only one 32-bit and one 64-bit of the DCOM/COM OpenROAD Server may be installed per machine. If the OpenROAD Server is installed, it will replace the previous version of the OpenROAD Server.
