Installing OpenROAD into the Same Ingres Instance as the Older Version of OpenROAD
You can install the latest version of OpenROAD into the same Ingres instance. Doing so will automatically uninstall the previous version of OpenROAD before installing the new version. If the OpenROAD 5.1 Standalone Net Client option was chosen, OpenROAD 12.0 will not migrate the OpenROAD 5.1 Standalone Net instance. If the new OpenROAD Standalone Net instance is chosen, then a different Ingres installation identifier will be used. A new OpenROAD version can only be installed with the OpenROAD Standalone Net client version or an Actian X instance (DBMS or Client) of the same version. The Ingres Client runtime cannot be used as a target for OpenROAD.
This method will not uninstall OpenROAD 3.5. In most cases OpenROAD 3.5 will be installed into an Ingres 6.4, OpenIngres 1.x, or Ingres 2.x instance. The OpenROAD installer will not allow OpenROAD 12.0 to be installed into these installations.
If you want to compare the previous version of OpenROAD with OpenROAD 12.0 side by side, you may install OpenROAD 12.0 in a separate Ingres instance.
