Alternatives in Establishing a New OpenROAD Environment
We recommend that you create a new OpenROAD 6.2 environment on a separate machine, with Ingres 10.1.1 or later installed. You may, however, be able to install certain components on the same machine. Follow these basic guidelines.
• OpenROAD Runtime and Development may be installed together, or OpenROAD Runtime can be installed separately when deploying an application.
• OpenROAD 6.2 can detect and upgrade an existing OpenROAD 2006 (5.0) environment as long as it is installed in an Ingres 9.2.0 instance or higher.
• OpenROAD 6.2 will not upgrade an existing OpenROAD 4.1 environment.
• OpenROAD 6.2 can be installed into an existing Ingres instance, or it can be installed as a standalone instance that includes the Ingres Net 10.0 Client.
• OpenROAD 6.2 Runtime and Development can run side by side with OpenROAD 4.1, OpenROAD 2006 (5.0), OpenROAD 5.1, or OpenROAD 6.0 in either a pre-installed version of Ingres or with the Ingres 10 Client packaged with the standalone version of OpenROAD 6.2.
• Only one version of the OpenROAD Server may be installed per machine. If the OpenROAD 6.2 Server is installed, it will replace the previous version of the OpenROAD Server.
• Loadnrun is a functional replacement for the eClient. However, it is possible to use the 6.2 version of the OpenROAD eClient runtime.
