Install Vector for Linux Using the Graphical Installation Wizard
The installation wizard is recommended if you have a Linux or OS X desktop environment.
The wizard is available for DEB and RPM distributions only.
The installation wizard uses the package manager on your Linux to install Vector. The wizard easily installs the software without your having to know package manager commands.
Debian/Ubuntu: The DEB distribution installs Vector under /opt/Actian/Vector; this location cannot be changed. Only one DEB instance per machine is allowed. If you want to install Vector in a different directory or install more than one instance on a machine, download the ingbuild distribution.
To install Vector using the Installation Wizard
1. Run the following script located in the root directory of the distribution:
./install.sh
The first page of the wizard is displayed.
2. Click Next.
The license dialog is displayed.
3. Select "I accept the terms of this license agreement," and then click Next.
The Installation Mode page is displayed.
4. Select Install.
The installation program installs Vector.
Note:  If the maximum size for shared memory segments for Linux (kernel.shmmax) is set too low, Vector will automatically adjust the setting.
The Installation Complete page is displayed.
5. Click Finish.
You are exited from the installation program.
