When to Change the Default Configuration Values
The Vector default configuration is suitable for a machine designated to run a database system, and optimized to exploit most of the available system resources.
The default configuration assumes a single Vector instance per server and a single active database with multiple concurrent queries.
If you need to use multiple instances and databases simultaneously on one server, manual configuration is needed. (For more information, see Using Multiple Databases.) Reconfiguration can also be useful on machines with little memory or if you want to achieve maximum performance for single-stream queries.
