General Browse Rules
The following general rules govern the start location for the Browse button. If the Browse button location text box contains:
A valid path: The browse dialog starts in the specified location.
A valid relative path or macro: If the entry begins with a period (.), and/or contains a macro, the application attempts to determine the absolute path and the browse dialog opens to that location.
An invalid entry: The application attempts to determine whether any part of the path is valid. If any part of the path is valid, the browse dialog opens to that location. Otherwise, it behaves as if the text box is empty.
Nothing (the text box is empty): The application attempts to determine which project or project folder you are currently in. If successful, the browse dialog opens to that location. If the application is unable to determine which project or project folder you are in, the browse dialog starts in the workspace directory.
Most Browse button instances are governed by the general browse rules. However, there are certain Browse button instances that are not. You can specify the browse location preference (for opening, selecting or saving certain file types) for those particular instances. The browse location preferences you can specify are:
User Defined Connections Location: For more information, see Setting General Preferences.
Process Template Location: For more information, see Setting Templates Preference for Process Designer.
AutoGen Rules File Location: For more information, see Setting Data Profile Preferences.
Log File Location: For more information, see Setting Logging Preferences.
Tip...  When using the Browse dialog, you can copy a folder path from the address bar of Windows File Explorer or a Save/Open dialog and paste it into the File Name box of the DataConnect Browse dialog, to browse the folder.
