Using Engine Profiler
This topic describes the Engine Profiler that provides graphical views that display the amount of processor time (in milliseconds) used by each event or function call in the transformation or process designs.
Performance details for each event, function, and code module are displayed in histogram and call graph formats. If the transformation takes a long time to run, there may be a particular function call or code module that is the root cause of the problem. Engine profiling provides insight into the tasks and activities that occur during processing.
Note: A histogram is a specialized graph or plot used in statistics. In its most common form, the independent variable is plotted along the horizontal axis, and the dependent variable (usually a percentage) is plotted along the vertical axis.
Engine profiling involves two basic steps. First is creating a profile output file. Second is viewing and analyzing the results recorded in the output file.
