Create a New Profile
You create user profiles using the
New Profile dialog (see
Profile Dialog). You can access this dialog in the following ways:
• From the Profiles folder context menu: New Profile
• From an existing profile node context menu: New Profile
• From the Database menu tab:
Profile, New Profile (see
Database Tab)
Note: To specify a group for the user profile, you must create it first. For more information, see
Create a New Group.
To create a new profile
1. Open the New Profile dialog in one of the ways described previously.
The New Profile dialog opens.
Set general options:
1. In the “Select a page” portlet, click General.
General options are displayed on the right side of the dialog. For more information, see
General Page (Profile).
2. Enter a name for the user profile.
3. Select a default group to assign users to, if desired.
If no groups have been created, this list will be blank.
4. Specify whether the profile access rights expire. If so, select an expiration date using the date picker.
Set privileges:
1. In the “Select a page” portlet, click Privileges.
2. Set the requested and default permissions for the user profile.
Set miscellaneous options:
1. In the “Select a page” portlet, click Options.
Miscellaneous settings are displayed on the right side of the dialog. For more information, see
Options Page (Profile).
2. Specify whether security auditing is enabled for all events and query text.
Save your changes:
Click OK to save your changes.
The new user profile appears under the Profiles folder in the Instance Explorer.
