If a Server Connection Definition has only one login, one connection, and no attributes, you can modify the definition using the Modify Server Connection Definition Dialog.

You open the Modify Server Connection Definition dialog by right-clicking on a Server Connection Definition node in the Instance Explorer and selecting Modify on the context menu.

Before you can modify a Server Connection Definition:

If a Server Connection definition has more than one login, or more than one connection, or at least one attribute, you cannot modify the definition using the Modify Server Connection Definition dialog. You must modify individual components using the Modify Login (see Modify a Login for an Existing Server Connection Definition), Modify Connection (see Modify a Connection for an Existing Server Connection Definition), or Modify Attribute (see Modify an Attribute for an Existing Server Connection Definition) dialogs.
