Installation Node
Installations, or instances, are the root nodes in the Instance Explorer. Installation nodes represent an Ingres or Actian Vector instance that has been
connected (see
Browsing Databases and Objects). Installations are represented with the following icons:
– Unencrypted connection
The title of the installation node has the following format:
machine_name (product installation_code – version (platform/path-level)) - userid
For example:
EU02054 (Ingres II – 10.2.0 (a64.win/100)) - user01
adxsot-rn603 (Actian Vector AV - 5.0.0 (a64.lnx/00)) - user32
Installation nodes consist of the following subfolders:
Databases
Contains a database node for each database in the installation, listed in alphabetical order. System databases are contained in a separate subfolder.
The Databases folder is expandable only if the installation is started; otherwise it is empty. If the instance is not running, the Databases folder icon has an
indeterminate state overlay (see
State Indicators).
Security
The Security folder is expandable only if the installation is started; otherwise it is empty. If the installation is not running, the Security folder icon has an
indeterminate state overlay (see
State Indicators).
Server Connection Definitions
Contains nodes for
Server Connection Definitions (see
Managing Server Connection Definitions). This folder is accessible only if the instance is running (since the name server must be running), and only if the user you logged in as is an operating system user with permissions to access the Name Server database. If the Server Connection Definitions folder is not accessible, an
indeterminate state icon is shown (see
State Indicators).
Locations
Management
Contains nodes for managing the installation. It contains subfolders for servers and transaction logs. This folder is accessible even if the installation is not running. For more information, see
