Selecting the Create/Upgrade Standard & Extended Catalogs action is equivalent to running the standard gateway catalog utility from the command line without any flags. (See Gateway Catalog Parameters for a description of supported flags.) If gateway catalogs do not exist in the database, new standard and extended catalogs are created.

If gateway catalogs already exist, only the standard catalogs are upgraded (dropped and re-created). Their data is also preserved.

None of the extended catalogs used by OpenROAD or other front-end tools are touched. However, running the standard gateway catalog build utility with the -s flag should never be done directly from the command line.
