Installing Ingres for Linux
Ingres for Linux is distributed in RPM format and non-RPM (ingbuild) format.
When using the RPM distribution, you can install Ingres using:
• An installation wizard
• From the command line using either the express_install command or RPM package manager command.
If your system does not have RPM, use the ingbuild installation program. Follow the instructions described in
Installing Ingres on UNIX on page 1.
Note: Installation of Ingres may require root access. If you are logged in as another user, you may need the root password or be authorized to use sudo.
