How You Install Ingres
If you are installing Ingres for the first time, you should be familiar with the installation considerations (see Understanding Installation Considerations on page 1) before installing the software.
The process for installing Ingres in any operating system environment is as follows:
1. Verify that your hardware and software meet the Ingres requirements, as documented in the Readme for your platform.
2. Decide on file locations, as described in File Location Guidelines on page 4 and Sample Disk Configurations on page 13.
3. Generate a license key using the Ingres license generator page accessible through the Actian Customer Portal (https://support.actian.com/) and place the license.xml file into a directory accessible to the Ingres installation.
4. Install the software.
5. Perform post-installation tasks, as described in Understanding Post-installation Tasks on page 1.
