How You Install Actian X
If you are installing Actian X for the first time, you should be familiar with the installation considerations (see Understanding Installation Considerations) before installing the software.
The process for installing Actian X in any operating system environment is as follows:
1. Verify that your hardware and software meet the Actian X requirements, as documented in the Readme for your platform.
2. Decide on file locations, as described in File Location Guidelines and Sample Disk Configurations.
3. Generate a license key using the Actian X license generator page accessible through the Actian Customer Portal (https://support.actian.com/) and place the license.xml file into a directory accessible to the Actian X installation.
4. Import the GPG public key if using the RPM distribution.
5. Install Actian X.
6. Perform post-installation tasks, as described in Understanding Post-installation Tasks.
