How You Install Actian Ingres
If you are installing Actian Ingres for the first time, you should be familiar with the installation considerations (see Understanding Installation Considerations on page 11) before installing the software.
The process for installing Actian Ingres in any operating system environment is as follows:
1. Verify that your hardware and software meet the Actian Ingres requirements, as documented in the Readme for your platform.
2. Decide on file locations, as described in File Location Guidelines on page 14 and Sample Disk Configurations on page 23.
3. Generate a license key using the Actian Ingres license generator page accessible through the Actian Customer Portal (https://support.actian.com/) and place the license.xml file into a directory accessible to the Actian Ingres installation.
4. Import the GPG public key if using the RPM distribution.
5. Install Actian Ingres.
6. Perform post-installation tasks, as described in Understanding Post-installation Tasks on page 73.
