About Starting and Stopping Components
This section covers starting and stopping Actian database instances and the individual components of instances such as DBMS servers.
To start or stop instances or components:
Local or remote instances must be available.
An instance or component must be in a stopped state before it can be started.
An instance or component must be in a started state before it can be stopped.
Instances are started with their default configurations. Starting and stopping instances is the same as issuing an ingstart or ingstop command with no parameters at the command prompt.
You can start or stop individual components within an instance, including non-default configurations. Advanced starting and stopping options are available under the Management folder of a connected instance (see Management Folder).
If you have insufficient rights to start or stop an instance, the options are still enabled on the context menu, but attempting to start or stop the instance displays an error dialog.
