Automatic Connection
You can configure Director to attempt to connect to no, local, or all installations using the credentials of the user currently logged on. If successful, this connection happens automatically, bypassing the Connect to Instance dialog. For connections whose authentication type is “Authenticated User” (and not “Current User”), you must re-enter the user's password, unless you have previously checked the Remember Password option.
Configure for Automatic Reconnection at Startup
You can configure Director to reconnect to currently connected instances when the application is launched, bypassing the Connect to Instance dialog. For more information, see Environment Options (Options Dialog).
To configure for reconnection
1. Click Home, Options to open the Options dialog.
2. Click the triangle at the left of the Environment heading, and then click the Startup heading.
3. Select one of the connection options—see Environment Options (Options Dialog).
4. Click OK.
The next time you start Director, it will attempt to automatically connect to the installations specified. If you specify “Don’t reconnect,” instances currently connected will not be reconnected when you restart; they will still be displayed in the Instance Explorer in a “ghosted” condition. You can use the context menu or the toolbar button to connect to these installations at any time after startup.
