Setting Up and Registering the Backup Agent
The DataCloud Backup Agent for your platform can be downloaded from esd.actian.com.
The backup agent must be set up and then registered with the backup service in the cloud.
Note:  The Management Server, which is part of the Ingres installation, must be running before setting up the agent. From an Ingres command prompt, type: iimgmtsvr ‑isremoterunning. If the response is “false,” start it by typing: iimgmtsvr -start.
To set up and register the agent
1. Make sure that you are the Ingres installation owner user.
Linux: Note: Make sure that the Ingres environment script is sourced in the terminal window where you are working. Also, if you installed Ingres using the express installer then the owner of the $II_SYSTEM directory should be changed from user root to the user who owns the Ingres installation: sudo chown installation_owner $II_SYSTEM
Windows: Open an Ingres command prompt that belongs to the instance you want to register.
2. Place the downloaded backup agent zip file in your II_SYSTEM directory and unpack it using the unzip command or File Explorer on Windows.
A “backup-agent” directory is created, with subfolders bin, lib, and conf.
3. Change directory to the previously extracted bin folder. Execute the following command to register the backup agent:
Linux: ./backup-agent register
Windows: backup-agent register
4. Respond to the agent registration prompts:
User name and password for your DataCloud Backup account
The geographic region where you want your backup data stored: (1) US East (N. Virginia), (2) US West (Oregon), (3) EU Germany, (4) UK London, (5) EU Ireland.
Encryption password, used when encrypting data during transmission and at rest in the cloud.
Re-enter the encryption password for verification.
Note:  Remember this password in a secure way. If the agent's registration files are lost, you will need this password to recover your previously backed-up data.
(Optional) The local directory where you want your backups to be downloaded to. Specify the full path to the directory. If you do not specify a location, files will be downloaded to the default location described in Download Directory.
The agent registers itself with the backup service in the cloud.
